Sandlin Ocarina was started in 2024 in the Pacific Northwest. We make handmade ocarinas for musicians of all skill levels. Our ocarinas are all custom design.
We began making ocarinas for their unique musical quality. They are similar to flutes but have a brighter sound, making them a unique instrument for all kinds of music.
The owner learned to play and make ocarinas from ocarina makers in Japan, Austria, and England. However, being located in Portland, OR, has allowed us to access local clays and porcelains which gives our ocarinas a rich and radiant sound.
In the United States ocarinas are most known for their appearance in Japanese Anime and Cartoons. But became much more popular in 1998 with the best-selling video game "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time."
